Seeking Volunteers to Serve on the Klickitat County Planning Commission
Klickitat County is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the county’s Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is a citizen body that is responsible to guide the future growth and development of the county while protecting livability, natural, scenic and cultural resources. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on a variety of land use planning issues and policies, including zone change proposals. The Planning Commission is also responsible for updating the county’s land use planning documents, including the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Critical Areas Ordinance, Shorelines Management Program, and others.
The nine members of the Planning Commission include three from each of the County Commissioner Districts as shown on the map linked below:
Heading into 2025, there is a vacancy in District 2. District 1 and District 3 have Planning Commissioners whose four-year terms expire at the end of 2024.
The county is accepting applications for all three positions.
The Planning Commission usually meets at 6:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the Klickitat County Services Building in Goldendale.
